Daisy Margarita

Daisy Margarita is an artist born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in 1993 to immigrant parents escaping civil war in El Salvador. She has lived primarily in El Salvador, Spain, and Belgium throughout her life. After graduating from Instituto di Diseno de Madrid (IED) in 2020 with a fashion degree, she started her art career and has slowly merged these two fields.

She frequently uses vibrant colour harmonies to juxtapose intense messages. Her creations unfold a nostalgic androgynous universe imbued with strong feminine energy. Through bodily distortions and unique postures, she reclaims her body, defies social beauty norms, and forges new worlds. Drawing inspiration from her life, mental health, and emotions, she incorporates raw human experiences into her work, addressing social and political issues.

In 2021, she debuted her first private exhibition in Madrid, followed by her inaugural solo show at the Forma Museum in El Salvador in September 2023.

I want to think that my only purpose in this lifetime is to move people and allow them to feel safe while they process the intense emotions I try to convey. I want to think that my work creates a space to feel part of a community, and to feel like you're not alone in your thoughts and desires. Looking at my work puts you inside a moment where you can experience the laughter, the sadness, the confusion, the heartbreak, the fear and the bliss shared in a single expression.
